Who should be role models for kids?

With the way things are going in this world, it’s more important for kids to be able to look to their parents as role models. I know growing up I looked at my Father as the person I wanted to be most like. While I failed to come even close, it was nice to have someone close to me that I could aspire to be like. Please don’t get me wrong I had my share of childhood heroes, from Pro Football players too TV Stars. However I always seemed to fall back on my Dad as my biggest hero.

When I was growing up families stayed together more then they do now, it seems that for every 3 people I know 1 is divorced. While this is sad, it is the reality of the world we live in. I am divorced and while I am happy in my life and with myself, I do regret that my kids have had to grow up without me around as much as I should have been. Granted my kids got very lucky, their Step-Father is a great guy, and a good Dad. If I had to pick a replacement Father for my kids, and had to go outside of my family, I could not have found a better guy.

The problems we are facing today, is a lot of kids don’t get lucky like mine, they are shuffled around from house to house, notice I refrain from calling them homes. A home is filled with love, and the feeling of safety.

Just Food for thought
