Was down at the protest over same sex marriage tonight in Annapolis, Maryland. To get an idea where I am coming from I believe that marriage is between a man and a women. With that said I also believe that the Government has no business telling Churches who they can and can’t marry. I have been a supporter of doing away with the marriage license and replacing it with a civil union.

At that point each person would be allowed to follow their own beliefs. If my Church does not allow same sex marriage and I am ok with that, great. If a person who wishes to get married and their church allows same sex marriage why should I care? Other then having a civil union being between two consenting adults why should the government care?

I had a chance to speak with a same sex couple, and when I asked them if they wanted to win the war or win the battle? After explaining to them my meaning they still did not grasp my point. The marriage word was all the cared about. There does not have to be a law about getting married, after all, that is supposed to be between Yourself, the person you are marrying and God.

To me having the same rights for both a straight couples and a same sex couples should be all anyone cares about.

While I was down there I listened to a few interviews that where taking place on the fringe of the protest. One person was asked about adoption, as soon as the question was out of the reporters mouth I cringed. Having seen enough of these types of interviews done before I knew how the person would reply. Instead of saying each case should be treated case by case, the person answered by saying it was morally wrong for a same sex couple to raise kids. Sorry people but I know a lot of gay couples who would make great parents as well as knowing a lot of straight couples that should never have been allowed to reproduce.

In both cases had the people taking a step back and thought about what was really important they could have won the war, instead both sides are missing the boat.

Take the word marriage out of the license and replace it with civil unions and the Churches reactions would not be so strong. Answer the question about adoption without passing judgment ,removes the anger over blanket statements as well as opening up the doors to more children being adopted by a loving family. For the adoption issue. its placing the kids with loving families.

While it wont happen over night, if the Federal Government repealed The Dodd-Frank banking law and put the Glass–Steagall Act back in place, this would give the financial markets room to breath as well as put something back in place that we all know worked.

Then we need to repeal the health care bill, even if we don’t replace it right away with something more workable ,the clarity for small businesses would give them room to make a 5 year plan. Which would allow small businesses to hire employees. After all the big thing is jobs.

Make the Bush tax cuts permanent and put the EPA on a VERY SHORT leash. Just doing those few things, would help jump start our Country. There are more things that could be done, but just starting with those few things would give us a huge boost.

A little bit more about the EPA, make it illegal for them to try to enforce new rules that have not been passed by congress. This would take away the uncertainty that Company’s have to deal with when the EPA announces some new regulation.

The last thing is a no brainier, Allow  oil companies to do what they do, which is drill for oil. This alone would create a lot of new high paying jobs.

While its "great" that our leaders are debating raising the ceiling, the problem I have is there is not set baseline. Is it spending levels based on 2008? Or is the baseline going to be on the amount of taxes and other revenues the Federal Government takes in? Or is it going to based on the projected amount for fiscal 2010? To me it would be pretty simple you start the talks with the goal being to get our spending in line with what we take in.
There are plenty of people writing about the deals that are being talked about, but I have seen very few talking about what the baseline should be.

Its what happens when one thinks they can work when they are tired.

So when one is tired one should not do anything that is even a little complicated.

For those of you who want peace in the Middle East it has to start with the Palestinian’s condemning actions of murderers and terrorists, instead they make hero’s out of those evil people.

A controversy is brewing over three reputable Christian organizations, which are based in North America, whose efforts have ousted the words “Father” and “Son” from new Bibles. Wycliffe Bible Translators, Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) and Frontiers are under fire for “producing Bibles that remove “Father,” “Son” and “Son of God” because these terms are offensive to Muslims.” Concerned Christian missionaries, Bible translators, pastors, and national church leaders have come together with a public petition to stop these organizations. They claim a public petition is their last recourse because meetings with these organizations’ leaders, staff resignations over this issue and criticism and appeals from native national Christians concerned about the translations “have failed to persuade these agencies to retain “Father” and “Son” in the text of all their translations.”

Yet when visiting Arizona he won’t even allow the Governor to finish her sentence…. Seems screwed up to me.

Most of the politicians behave like this during an election year. Why do We Americans allow this to happen ? With the age of the world wide web there is on reason why people can’t check to see who’s telling the truth.

When we pay for a service or for going to see the Doctor etc. we don’t allow them to lie to us, so why do we allow our Elected leaders to do so?

Keep in mind that Mitt might not fire up the GOP, he does have a large V.P. pool to pick from. McCain did not get the GOP base fired up however when he picked Palin she did. Regardless of your views about her, she did fire everyone up.

Now I am not saying to pick her as V.P. not when the talent pool is pretty deep.

Think about the people we wish would have run, and now think about them turning down the V.P. slot. Will they really do it? Newt would need a younger running mate, Mitt would need someone from the South or West and Santorum could pick from either one.

Lets stay focused on the big picture, which is taking the White House and the Senate back while keeping the House.
