Iran and other things on my mind

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Iran has giving the world the finger, and surprising no one, China will not back the sanctions… Now in the 30’s we all turned a blind eye to what Hitler was doing, in fairness the information did not travel as fast as it does today, and the modern world had not seen evil like that before. Fast forward to present day and we have a leader in Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who denies the Holocaust and has stated more then once that he wants to wipe Israel off the face of the map. Yet we keep trying to do the same thing over and over again to Iran. Which by the way is the definition of insanity, repeating the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Applying more sanctions to Iran will have no affect on Iran’s current government of trying to develop nuclear war heads. While I do not want to have our young men and women involved in another war, I can’t see a way around it. Can we afford to have 3 wars going at the same time? Not without the same sacrifices that where made during W.W.2.

American’s have changed in many way since WW2, some great and others not so good. We have not eliminated racist, however we have gotten passed the point that being a racist is no longer socially acceptable. No longer do we even stand by and allow it to happen. Do we still have work left to do? Sure we do, however race is not a factor in most cases. When it comes to jobs, most are based on what the persons abilities are, not based on race. The Government is the last section of our society that still has a race issue. Until the Government moves away from even worrying about the race of who gets hired, we will always have this issue. One thing that we have done that is not very good, we have gotten away from personal responsibility, now we allow others to do what we should be doing. In the 30’s-50’s people tended to take care of themselves and did not look for others to do things for them that they could do. We no longer make individuals take personal responsibility of their actions or lack of. It seems that people tend to want to take the easy way out, easy credit, using the TV or the computer as a baby sitters for our children, instead of being a parent and teaching kids how to act. Lets keep in mind that we are all animals, and we all must learn how to act. Teaching right from wrong is something that does not happen because in order to set and example you must first live it. We need to move away from the instant gratification and move towards setting and accomplishing our goals.

What does this have to Iran? Simple if we don’t make sacrifices now we will be making our children make them…. Its the same thing with our debt that we are passing along to them. So we will be passing this debt to them as well as the Iran problem. Unless of course the people of Iran toss their government out….We can hope for that but with the way Iran’s government cracking down on their citizens…

Just food for thought from a sick mind..

Preview of President Obama’s health care summit

Preview of President Obama’s health care summit…

First lets keep in mind that the President can not pass a law, he can sign a bill into law or veto it. What he can try to do is persuade law makers to pass a bill, or persuade the voters to call in and voice their concerns, urging law makers to pass the President’s bill.

This dog and pony show is for the President to make a personal appeal to you the American Voter. President Obama firmly believes he knows what’s best for the American people. Even after the voters have urged, demanded, begged and screamed for them to slow down on health care, and pass a bill that has real reform. Yet its plan to see that either the President and some Democrats don’t care what the people want, or they think they know better then we do.

On Thursday look for the story’s about those who died because they lacked health care, they will tug on your heart, it is sad when someone dies, no matter the cause. However time and time again, these story’s that President Obama and the other story tellers, like to tell are half truths at best.

While the President said he wanted to start over, he did not really mean that, what he meant was he would get directly involved in pushing this bill down our throats. He has already had Reid prepare the papers to pass this bill via reconciliation process, which in case you don’t know is supposed to be used for budget acts not a law like this, and gives the Democrats a chance of passing this since it will only require 51 votes, and guess who gets to break the tie? VP Biden…..

Lets all keep in mind the President has no intention of taking many or any ( I am guessing any ) parts of the Republican reform bill, and yes there has been one for a long time now. This is a public relations stunt nothing more nothing less.

You know the old saying don’t bite off more then you can chew? That’s what the President and the Democrats have done. Instead of taking a common sense approach to health care reform, the are trying to redesign the entire system. When a car beaks you don’t toss the car you fix what’s broken…. Why are they afraid of not passing this bill? Keep in mind unemployment is pretty high right now, the economy is still in the tank, yet they wish to keep working on this, instead of dealing with the tougher issues. Why??? Simple this is what every liberal has dreamed about for years, being able to tell those who are not as “smart” as them what’s best for them…. Don’t worry about putting food on your kids plate…….. we will give you health care ….. Wake up Washington !!!!!!!!! Is anyone listening? Is the mic on???

White House Press Secretary Gibbs said that he would like to see a Republican bill, then latter after finding out that the Republicans have had a bill drafted for over 6 months or more, he has Dan Pfeiffer, the White House Communications Director, post up on the Whitehouse.org a silly question and an excuse saying the White House knows the Republicans have many bills out there and have yet to be told which one it is they are putting on the table…

To me, what it seems like, is the plane took off with only one pilot, he bailed out, and those in charge are afraid to ask if anyone knows how to fly…..

Educating the Masses by Linda Brady Traynham

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Reading the article that Miss Traynham has written moved me to the point that I got sad, because I have been saying this to anyone who would listen for about 4 years. Keep in mind while I was drinking I cared for nothing else but drinking. It took 2 years of being sober to clear the cob webs, so I could actually think for myself. Which is why it took so long for me to understand this. If you don’t read anything else I have written or never return to this site I urge you to really read this article and think about it.

Health Care again? winners and losers

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

It seems that President Obama and Nancy Pelosi failed to get the message about the health care bill. Since neither one of them our overly concerned about getting elected again, Nancy Pelois because she hails from one of district’s that try’s very hard to be from the far, far left. While President Obama must think that either He will have no problem getting elected again or He has decided that better to be a one term President and have some type of legacy then a two term President and do something good for the Country.

The televised health care meeting between both parties and the President is more smoke and mirrors. If it was not the Democrats would not be still openly talking about forcing the bill through the senate.

The Winners if health care reform is passed are very few. Those that have coverage now will see wait times go up for seeing their Doctors and shorter time with the Doctor, when they do get to see him/her. Not to mention the increase in time it will take to have simple tests done, all because the system will be overloaded. Some of those who will be forced to buy health care will be the younger generation who are healthy and in most case would not buy a private plan. They will be the ones paying the price (in terms of money) for the Federal Government taking over our Health Care system. The elderly and those who have chronic conditions, who already have insurance now, will get less treatment because of the new demand of clients that adding 30 million new patients into the system will create. The new people that get coverage subsidized by this bill ( I just can’t call it reform since its not) will have trouble finding Doctors who are taking new patients, as well as being put on a waiting list to see the Doctor for the first time.

Now I have not mentioned those Doctors who will retire or leave the Medical Profession because of the working conditions that they will have to deal with, trying to see so many new patients while also trying to make a living. Keep in mind that the Doctors who make the least amount of money are the Family Doctors or General practitioners, and those are the first Doctors most have to see before being seen by a specialist. Did I mention we are already short Family Doctors here in the States? The young people now who have the knack or calling for healing, will now go into a Specialized practice or become veterinarians, so they can pay off their student loans.

Why can’t the Politicians try to take a simple approach ? Start small, pass one or two small bills, and see how they work? It would be simple to put a time limit on the bill, so it has to be reviewed, and if need be tweaked or revoked if it does not reduce the cost of health care?

Keep your eyes wide open, please don’t let them use smoke and mirrors to pass this bad bill. Force them to start over and start small. We all know that before a baby can walk it has to learn to crawl, our Federal Officials should take a lesson or three from them.

America turning the page on Spending?

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

With the election of Senator Scott Brown from Mass, and now with Dean Murray, another conservative, winning a State assemblyman seat in Long Island New York, Americans may be sending a message to our elected officials. The days of having a blank check have ended. Since both of these seats have been historically democratic seats. For the last 16 years or so we have allowed our Politicians to run up our national debt, the last President who had the courage to raise taxes was President H.W.Bush, which was the major reason he was not elected for a second term. (Yes I know President Clinton raised tax’s as well) For those who are misinformed about who balanced the budget during President Clinton’s two terms in office let me point out that the C.B.O. sited the decline in Military spending, and a record economy which collected sweeping records of tax revenue. While both parties would like to take credit, we know that it was neither President Clinton or the Republican Congress. While more credit should go to the Republicans in congress at the time, they truly do not deserve the credit anymore then President Clinton does. You can read more about that here

Sorry for the side bar, however I do hope both political parties understand this is not a party issue, this is an American issue. I don’t see the voters sticking to one party or the other, until or unless both start to act a lot more fiscally responsible. Will there always be people who vote along party lines? Sure and there is nothing that can be done about that, however more and more people are taking a hard look at the person running for office instead of the letter behind their name. Which is how it should have always been. If the voters stay informed, I see our Country returning to a more sound fiscal system, instead of just printing more money. The only way I see us not doing so, is if the elected officials keep ignoring the American people. We have to factor in the time it takes for each election cycle, and the harm they can do before being voted out of office. However the good news is We the People are starting to be heard. Lets just hope its not to late.

Economic stimulus package, Get over it

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Tired of hearing about both sides argue on if the stimulus spending bill worked or not. While it’s important to look at the data to see if it was a mistake, or if it worked. However it does not need to be used as a tool to beat one party or the other up with. As an American citizen, I am so tired of the back and forth in. It worked or it did not, lets move on to something else. If there is money that has not been spent, and the program has not worked, then return the unused money. We really need to get a grip on our national debt as well as our priorities. Far to long we have allowed both parties to do what’s in their best interest instead of what’s best for the Country.

When are the rest of us going to wake up and demand that Congress does a decent job. At this point I would settle for decent, hell almost anything would be an improvement. While I am not a fan nor supporter of President Obama, at least he is trying to get stuff done. Granted most of what he is trying to do I am against…. People blame the President when things go wrong, and while the buck does stop with him, he is limited on what he can really do. Congress has to act before he can.

Lets look at the health care debate, everyone I know thinks we need to reform our system, however few can agree on how to go about it. Instead of a massive bill, why not do something simple, like just passing a small bill, and allow us to find out if it works or not. If it works but we still need additional things done, we can go back and do it. Today 4 senators have written Senator Reid to use reconciliation to pass the health bill that few people want passed. The bill is so big, over 2000 pages, that few people even know what’s in the bill. Most of the people that voted for it, only looked to see if the part that they wanted was in it. Not to mention that the Citizens are not for this bill….. So why are they working on something that We the people do not want? If I knew the answer to that one I would be a rich man.

Both Parties need to stop with the nonsense

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Each day I read about someone stepping down or deciding not to run for re-election, and if its a Democrat that is retiring, the Republicans get very excited by this. While I am a conservative, I am not blind. I have yet to see the two parties come together on anything. While I am against the Federal Government taking over health care, I am not against health care reform. To me it seems that the politicians want or need for it to be about their Party, when all the American People want is for the Federal Government to work. We do not want to have to hear or read about why something can’t get done in a sensible fashion. There is no need for our National debt to be so high, nor is there any reason why both sides can’t sit down and work through the problems we face today. If they are more concerned about getting re-elected then getting the job done that we sent them to do, they will find themselves looking for another job.

This is not about a party, this is about Our Country, and its time for both political parties to “man up”. Enough of the silly games, its time to stop trying to smack the other party around, and time to work together on the problems we face as a Nation.

Tough times calls for tough actions, while We the American People may not like having to pay more taxes or losing some services, if its explained why we have to, and it makes sense, we will do whatever it takes to get us back on the right track. Keep in mind few people want to pay for other people to sit around and live off the Government and the increase in taxes should be a temporary thing, if they are needed at all.

This is bigger then both parties and bigger then one person….It’s time that both parties came out with the truth. The truth being that we as a Country will have to make some hard decisions, some that will not be popular in the short run. No one I know wants to pay more taxes nor do they want to see the huge waste in spending that goes on each day, by our Federal Government.

I am tired of the same old same old, each day. Enough is enough. Both parties need to pull their heads out of the butts and get to work. Maybe its time we pulled the safety net out from under our elected officials? Let’s make the State’s pay for our own Senators and Congressmen, as well as the staff that goes along with it. Doing a good job? You will get a review each year just like a normal person does, if you rate a pay increase and there is money for you to get one, you will. If not? Maybe next year. While this approach may not work for the House side, it would for the senate, since each state has only 2 senators. We can do away with the nice medical insurance they get and put them on Medicare, do away with their retirement plan and force them to take Social Security and what other personal investments they have made for their retirement. I bet Medicare and Social Security would be high on the list of things that got fixed…..

Just food for thought

California Failing, and National Sercurity

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Axis of Right web site has a pretty scary post today..

News came out today that California is going to have to cut up to $9 billion from its budget or be broke by March, leaving them with no money to run the government until April when a fresh load of taxes start coming in. The constitution in California makes each proposition have the power of a state constitutional amendment, essentially meaning that there’s a lot of waste which the government is legally bound to fund unless repealed. It’s a mess no one seems willing or able to take-on full force, so it’s especially ugly compared to other states.

Unfortunately, this where the future of our nation may be headed. First of all, I believe that the biggest bailout in US history will be the approaching bailout of California — a state which will be deemed “too big to fail” and will require the 49 other states to flip the massive bill.

Full Story; California Crisis Previews our Own

Then on the other end of the spectrum Susan Collins speaks out about National Security, specifically the failed or missed opportunity to gather intelligence from the underwear bomber by the FBI

Why post both on the same page? Simple both go hand in hand. We need to close our borders and start treating those who do not have the proper paper work (non-citizens) as criminals or in the terrorists case Enemy Combatants. California is broke partly because they refuse to deal with the illegal immigrants and as a nation we are slowly going broke for the same reason. More goes into both problems but as a Nation we have to start some place.

Another example of why we need so secure our borders

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

A Murder goes free because he fled the USA back to Mexico… After the Iowa Attorney Generals office finally had the man extradited, and the man was then convicted of the crime of murder, he gets to walk free because in Iowa they have a 90 day law. Meaning you must have the trial with in 90 days of the day charges are brought. They do have a clause in there if its because of the defendants actions, however for some odd reason, the court system turned this man loose. Here is the story

Now I have nothing against anyone coming into the USA legally and working, living or just visiting if they have the proper paper work. But to come here, assume someone else’s name and then commit any crime, let alone murder and walk away?(already breaking one law entering into the country illegally) This is just insane, yet we allow this to happen over and over again. When will the Politicians remove their heads from their butts and understand that losing one American Citizen because they where afraid to make a tough call on securing our borders, is one to many.

Gibbs, I have not seen the letter

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Anytime there is something that the White House does not want to address, Gibbs response is I have not seen the letter…
January 26th 2010
January 06, 2010
August 18, 2009
Those are just three, Sorry but its time that the White House puts up or shuts up. The White House needs to get there head removed from their rear and get in tune with what is going on in America.

We need for our Leaders to be going threw the same things that we are going threw. This does not mean going on more trips that cost the American tax payer anymore.

Anytime the President travels it costs the tax payer a lot of money. He needs to pick what’s important for him to attend. Example is the trip to pick up the Nobel Peace prize, first President Obama should have postponed picking up the award till after he was out of office. I do not know the exact cost of the trip but I know it was not cheap. Nor should he have gone to the climate meeting, granted it was two for one, however he did not need to be at either. First with climate gate, no high level member of the US Govt should have gone.

While I am picking on the President all of this holds true for all of our elected officials.

Its high time we stopped spending money we don’t have on things we don’t need.
